It’s been a big week for us here at Lightsabre Towers as we celebrate our 10th anniversary on the net as Lightsabre. We’ve made some brilliant friends, met some amazing people and interviewed some genuine legends of film, TV, art and writing. I can’t tell you how much it’s meant to get so many lovely messages and well-wishes from some good pals, and continuing forward we’re making our best efforts to keep the site fun, informative (very British) and unique.
To help celebrate our 10th anniversary we bring you our third and final part of our chat with Star Wars legend Anthony Daniels. Anthony was a joy to interview, funny, insightful and very open about his experiences, and that final part can be found on the site today.
Our Blast from the Past continues, as does Setnin Select and our weekly chronological look into Lightsabre stories past. In our 10th anniversary week it’s good to focus on our fiction as the site started out as a fan fiction site and has grown to become what it is today.
Last week we chatted with Craig Spivey, the owner of an amazing collection here in the UK and our chat with him can be found on the site.
Finally our good friend and site composer James Semple has composed some stunning music for our forthcoming return to Setnin Radio, and that can be found at http://www.jamessemple.com/ls/bed1.mp3
Time to go. Keep in touch, any cool Star Wars news from any of you then please let us know and we’ll post it on Lightsabre. Until the next time,
Courtesy of MadameFORCE via Twitter, I can point you in the direction of the Wookiee Translator:
The Wookiee language is hard to understand, and quite frankly, even harder to pronounce. We humans simply lack the necessary anatomy to make the barks, growls and moans that are required for a hearty conversation.
But now, with the Wookiee Translator available on your iPhone or iPod touch, you can translate and play back anything you or your friends say into the language of the Wookiees (known as Wookieespeak or Shyriiwook.)
While it doesn't actually translate what you say, it IS a lot of fun!
A Belated Happy 10th Birthday to the rather excellent web site Lightsabre, run by my dear friend Mark Newbold:
Thursday 25th June 2009
>>>Lightsabre is ten years old today.
We haven't made a big song and dance about it, we've just knuckled down and tried our best to bring you the best star wars news, interviews, links and looks at the wild and untamed setnin sector that we possibly can. For those of you who have been here since day one you have our eternal thanks, and to those who have come aboard in the last 3653 days, we hope you are enjoying the ride.
Here's to many more.
Speaking of which, while I've been running the Galactic Empire since Feb 6th, 1999, I don't consider GEN as 10, nope, that celebration will be Dec 16th, 2009, as GEN went live as www.galacticempire.net on Dec 16th, 1999.

Couples often bond over shared interests. And for John and Lisa Duffy that just happens to be adorning clanking plastic white head-to-toe “Star Wars” Imperial Stormtroopers costumes.
The Duffys didn’t just bond over their passion for all things Star Wars, it was how they met and later got married.
All this week, StarWars.com celebrates the talented women that help make the Star Wars experience possible. Though there are hundreds of names worth spotlighting, this list draws from archived content across the site, starting with the women that helped make the film and television saga a reality. Check back throughout the week for additional profiles.
I recently had the opportunity to speak to Matt Lanter, the 90210 star who also has a second ongoing television gig via his role as Anakin Skywalker on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The Clone Wars will be back for Season 2 this fall, and Lanter told me his impressions of what he's seen so far and why it's so fun to be a part of Star Wars
Welcome to the latest Lightsabre update as we prepare for a BIIIG announcement shortly and bring you news of our latest updates.
Kicking off we added our interview with scholar and gentleman Barrie Holland yesterday. Barrie was a fantastic guest who has had a brilliantly interesting career, and our chat with him can be found on the site and in our Star Interviews section.
We’re always looking to do new things on the site – sometimes too many new things, but we try – and so stay tuned for some interesting new sections, including the return of our Setnin Radio show, which will be back within the next few short weeks featuring original music by composer James Semple.
Recently we’ve added interviews from Kyle Newman and artist Jason Brown, and coming up…well, that would be telling but we have some real doozy’s coming up in the near future.
Check out the main page for our new Blast from the Past section, featuring images from the dim and distant past of the saga, usually behind the scenes shots. Great fun, and many images are rarely seen.
Excellent, check out next week for our latest webmaster interview and we’ll see you all very soon,
Charles Macnish e-mailed me to let me know about his fantastic piece of work:
A friend asked me to remix the Imperial March into a relatively newer electronic genre called Dubstep, so I did that, and decided that it could use some video entertainment to back it up so I edited a few things and came up wtih this:
Star Wars - Vaderstep - Annias
Charles also mentioned that...
...there is a youtube vid link, an alternate hosted link for an API on my website, and a link to download the 128kbps MP3 all on the blog entry
